Library Storage Facilities

Two dedicated storage facilities help to safeguard the vast collections of the University Libraries.

  • The Library Service Center in Durham, N.C., provides high-density, climate-controlled storage in a state-of-the-art facility.
  • The Science Library Annex is a secure storage facility located behind Wilson Library on the Carolina campus.

How to Request Materials from Storage

 Delivery for UNC-Chapel Hill affiliates

  • Use the online catalog to request items from the Library Service Center or the Science Library Annex. When you select the “Request” button on an item in the catalog, we will retrieve the item and deliver it to the campus library of your choice.
  • UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff and students can also request individual chapters or articles from storage materials. We will scan and deliver them electronically at no cost to you. See the Carolina BLU webpage for details.

Delivery for Registered Borrowers

North Carolina residents with a borrower’s card and affiliates of partner schools (UNC System, Duke, or an NC Community College) who have registered as borrowers at Davis Library can request items from storage via an online form.
