Graduate School centennial logoCrowning Glory: An Exhibit Celebrating the Graduate School Centennial at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill traces the growth and development of graduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Though the Graduate School (or Department, as it was first called) was established in 1903, graduate education at the University can actually be traced back to 1854, when first mention was made in the annual catalogue of coursework leading to the degree of master of arts.

With materials drawn from University Archives, the Southern Historical Collection, and the North Carolina Collection and Photographic Archives, the exhibit highlights the history of graduate studies and research at Carolina through photographs, books, original letters and documents, and University publications — and also celebrates the long collaboration between the Library and graduate education on our campus.
