Jessica Aylor will join the University Libraries April 4 as director of development.

The University Libraries is pleased to welcome Jessica Aylor as director of development and interim executive director of library development, effective April 4, 2022.

Aylor will support the mission and priorities of the University Libraries by working with donors and potential donors at the major gift level. She will also help to formulate a comprehensive giving strategy for the University Libraries, will support the Friends of the Library Board of Directors and will supervise the assistant director of annual giving and donor relations.

“Jessica brings exactly the skills and outlook we need to make sure the University Libraries maintains and accelerates our fundraising momentum and achieves a strong finish to the Campaign for Carolina,” said Vice Provost for University Libraries and University Librarian Elaine L. Westbrooks. Following Westbrooks’ departure from Carolina on May 31 and the departure of Executive Director for Library Development Blue Dean on March 25, Aylor will work closely with interim University Librarian María R. Estorino to build and maintain relationships with supporters and to advance the work of the University Libraries through private giving.

Aylor brings more than two decades of successful fundraising experience in higher education and the nonprofit sector. She was most recently vice president of community engagement and director of community investment for the Triangle Community Foundation, based in Durham, North Carolina. She previously served as the organization’s director of development and community partnerships, and as the development officer for corporate outreach. She has also worked as assistant director of corporate and foundation relations for North Carolina State University, and in fundraising positions for the Wolf Trap Foundation for Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia, and for the Richmond Symphony.

Aylor holds a B.A. in music from the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Administration from the School of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill. She has been honored for her leadership and service by organizations that include Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce, Business Leader Magazine and the Triangle Business Journal and is an active volunteer leader for organizations in the Chapel Hill community.

To make an appointment with Aylor, please contact the library development office at (919) 962-4207 or librarydevelopment@unc.edu.
