Expanded access to HathiTrust books ends August 1

July 26, 2021

Expanded access to e-books through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) will end August 1 at UNC-Chapel Hill.

As a member of HathiTrust, the University Libraries used ETAS to provide digital versions of books during the pandemic. The program requires us to discontinue emergency access once library stacks reopen.

We invite you to visit campus libraries in person beginning in August. All locations will be fully open to the public beginning Monday, August 9. Some will welcome students and faculty even earlier. Check the library hours listing for information, or use the Library Pickup Service if you would like us to retrieve items for you.

Although ETAS is ending, you continue to benefit from the University Libraries’ ongoing membership in HathiTrust. Through the HathiTrust digital library, Carolina affiliates enjoy access to millions of digitized books in the public domain and from the UNC-Chapel Hill collections. You’ll find these items when you search the University Libraries’ catalog.

If you need assistance locating or requesting library items, please contact us for assistance.
