Frequently Asked Questions

Wilson Library Improvement Project

Why was the timeline for the Wilson Project extended?

The University’s Office of Finance & Operations announced a timeline extension in March 2024. As Facilities Services staff worked through the project’s design and planning stages, it was determined that the cost estimates surpassed the allocated budget. Extending the start of construction allows library and facilities planning staff to approach the project more strategically and comprehensively.

Will the building still close?

The building closure that had been planned for 2025 will not take place. Wilson Library and its collections will remain open to the public and available for regular use at this time.

Will Wilson Library collections be available for use?

Collections will remain available for regular use at this time. Limitations on collections access scheduled to begin in 2024 have been lifted.

May I donate materials to Wilson Library?

Are there plans to close the building for construction in the future?

The University and the Libraries are committed to developing a holistic approach to the future of Wilson Library. The University expects to make the Wilson Library Improvement Project a top priority in the legislative capital planning request for 2025.
