African American Family Documentation Initiative
The African American Family Documentation Initiative is a suite of services designed to engage African American families in the preservation of their own stories. Our outreach work can be applied to preservation strategies, family memory projects, and working with institutional repositories.

How does lawmaking work in the European Union (EU)? What’s the difference between the European Council and the Council of the European Union? As the world’s first supranational organization, even those familiar with political unions may find the different policies and institutions involved in the EU complicated and difficult to understand. To help beginners and experts alike, UNC Center for European Studies intern Brett Harris decided to make a series of infographics explaining some of the main EU processes.

Building Student AI Literacy
The Carolina AI Literacy Initiative, led by librarian Dayna Durbin in collaboration with Professor Dan Anderson, was created to help students navigate the ethical and responsible use of Generative AI tools like ChatGPT. Through workshops, modules, and videos, the initiative teaches skills such as prompt writing, bias detection, fact-checking, and avoiding plagiarism. Building on the Libraries’ tradition of promoting information literacy, the program equips students with the knowledge to use AI tools thoughtfully and confidently in academic settings.

Civil War Day By Day
Drawing on the vast holdings of the Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library, this blog presents samples of the Civil War’s documentary remains. The concept of Civil War, Day by Day is a simple one: every day for four years, we presented a document that was 150 years old to the day.

Collaboration Networks within the Department of Chemistry
The Impact Measurement and Visualization (IMV) team at the UNC Health Sciences Library (HSL) collaborated with faculty from the UNC-Chapel Hill (UNC) Department of Chemistry to conduct a series of bibliometric analyses to discover the collaborations among current UNC Chemistry faculty and with all external entities. These analyses focused on the research publication output in the last 10 years (2008-2018).
