
The Health Sciences Library (HSL) embraces UNC’s vision to extend Carolina’s global presence through teaching, research, and public service. At the core of this vision lies a commitment to improving health both within North Carolina and globally. HSL embodies this commitment through its active engagement in the field of global health including support for UNC Project-Malawi, UNC Global Projects Zambia, and UNC Project-China. Key partners on campus include health affairs schools and the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID).
HSL Support for Global Health
HSL provides support to partners on campus and throughout the globe by:
- Maintaining and curating an extensive global health resource collections comprising journals, databases, books, and multimedia materials.
- Identifying open access resources available to global health partners regardless of affiliation.
- Customizing information resource guides, including site-specific guides.
- Providing research support both on campus and at research sites at UNC global sites through consultations in support of developing search strategies, selecting databases, evidence-based practice, and scholarly communication.
- Prioritizing global health equity through database selection, equity-oriented search strategies, curation of resources, and advocating for inclusivity.
