Whether you want to bring your big creative vision to life or just learn how to mend a hole in your favorite piece of clothing, the Library MakerSpace at the Undergraduate Library is a great place to hone your crafting skills.
Check out MakerSpace workshops ranging from stitching to beading to zine-making and claim your spot now!
In this introductory workshop, we will cover basic hand stitching and learn how to mend a hole using the sashiko inspired technique.
We will practice this technique on either clothing you bring or on fabric provided by the Library MakerSpace. Bring any sturdy fabric garment in need of mending (ex. denim, button-up shirts, flannel) and any questions you have. No experience needed!
In this workshop, we will learn a bead work technique known as even count peyote stitch to create a custom ring.
We will go over some of the basics of bead work and spend the rest of the time practicing our technique! Materials will be provided by the Library MakerSpace. No experience needed, just bring your questions!
(Note: The techniques in this workshop use fine motor skills that require hand dexterity. Larger beads and yarn can be used as substitutes to learn the technique if needed.)
Come to the Library MakerSpace anytime from 2:30-4:30pm to make a OOAK (One Of A Kind) zine!
Zines are a kind of handmade “magazine” or booklet, usually made from folding a single piece of paper. We will provide folding instructions as well as supplies such as cardstock, magazines, stickers, stamps, paint, markers, and more.
