Southern Scenery in 3D: 19th-Century Stereographic Photography

October 17, 2013 - February 2, 2014

Viewing stereographic photographs was a popular pastime in the 19th and early 20th centuries, offering people a way to see the world in three dimensions without leaving the parlors of their homes. This exhibition featured a selection of stereographic views from the North Carolina Collection Photographic Archives — including scenes made by Rufus Morgan (1846 – 1880), father of noted North Carolina photographer Bayard Wootten.
