Histories of the World: Global History in the Age of Discovery

September 4, 2018 - January 6, 2019

European travel, trade, and colonial ambition increased dramatically in the century and a half following Columbus’s 1492 encounter with the Americas. This exhibition explores the genre of historical scholarship during the early modern period, from the late fifteenth century through the mid-seventeenth century, highlighting major texts that changed perceptions of the near and distant past.
