Music Library: Loan Policies

Music Library Audio/Visual Collection

The Music Library’s collection of sound and video recordings circulates to all patrons with either a OneCard or a UNC Borrower’s Card.  Audio/Visual materials MUST be returned directly to the Music Library during open hours.

Music Library Audio/Visual Loan Periods

Audio/Visual materials may be renewed online up to 3 times.

Sound and Video Recordings:
All patrons with a OneCard or UNC Borrower’s Card: 30 days ($1.00/day overdue fine)

Music Library items that come with supplementary materials, like parts with a score, a CD accompanying a book, or multiple disc sets, are considered part of the item. An item is not considered returned until all of its parts have been returned: a score returned without its parts will remain checked out to the patron until all parts are returned. If parts are lost, the entire score must be replaced or a replacement fee must be paid; the same applies to sound and video recordings with multiple discs.

Music Course Reserve items (books and scores only) may be checked out overnight within the last 2 hours the Music Library is open on a given day, to be returned within the first hour we are next open. Hourly overdue fines ($1/hr) apply.

Rare Book and Music (Vault) Materials

Music rare materials are identified in the library catalog by the location Music Library Vault or Music Library Vault Folio. Use the Request button feature in the catalog records to request access to rare items. Once retrieved, they can be used in the Special Collections Research Room on the 2nd floor of Wilson Library.
