Information for Faculty on Remote Instruction
Adding online Course Reserves
Faculty can request reserve materials via Sakai or by sending an E-mail to reserve_reading@unc.edu.
Adding course reserves via Sakai
To add course reserves via Sakai:
- Click on the Course Reserves tool on the left side of your Sakai course site. The system will show all of the digital reserves for the class.
- To add materials, click on “Add Reserve Items.”
- Select the kind of item you wish to add (book chapter, article, etc).
- Enter the required fields (Book Title, Chapter Title, etc.) and hit submit. Staff will retrieve and scan/link the material as needed.
- The system will also allow you to upload your own material if you have it available.
Adding course reserves via Email
To add course reserves via E-mail, email the following information to reserve_reading@unc.edu.
- The title of the reading.
- The title of the original book or journal that it comes from.
- The year of publication.
After you send the email, staff will retrieve and scan/link the material. More information can be found at https://library.unc.edu/support/reserves/faculty/.
Add a Library Resource to your Sakai site
To add a Library Resource to your Sakai site:
- Select Site Info from the left hand menu.
- Select Edit Tools from the top options under the title of your Sakai site.
- Check the box next to Library Guide on the alphabetical list of tools.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue.
- Click Finish to complete adding the Library Guide tab to your Sakai site. The Library web site will now appear when students click the button.
- Contact the librarian for your department or subject area to request a course research guide with resources specifically tailored for your course and assignments.
Consultations
Consult with a librarian via Zoom, phone, or email to identify specific research resources available for your course. We can also create a course research guide that highlights relevant resources to help your students with their research assignments.
Instruction Sessions
Have a librarian tailor online library instruction via Zoom or Sakai for your class research assignment. Request a session.
