The Research Hub’s Digital Scholarship Librarian organized an “unconference” that introduced activists to new technology tools.
THATCamp stands for “The Humanities and Technology Camp”. It is an unconference: an open, inexpensive meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot. The Research Hub’s Digital Scholarship Librarian played a critical role in organizing this event.
The unconference focused on “Archiving Your Activism” by creating a discussion opportunity for activists who were interested in learning more about incorporating technology into their work, specifically when recording and sharing their efforts. Issues covered included preserving digital content, creating online exhibit and crowdsourcing. Participants shared tips, techniques and tools for preserving and communicating the history of their activism.
