The Temporary Evening Desk Services Associate will provide information and circulation services at the House Undergraduate and Davis Libraries on the UNC Chapel Hill campus. This position works in the Undergraduate Library (UL) from 8pm to 10:30pm, providing basic research and technology support and helping the permanent supervisor close the building to the public at 10pm. Upon closing the UL, the person in this position shifts to Davis Library, staffing the service desk with Davis staff and closing the building at 2am.
Duties performed at each location include lending library materials, supervising student employees, providing basic information and technology support, communicating with campus partners, and explaining and upholding library policies and procedures to the UNC community. Special projects may be assigned as needed. There is a possibility for daytime work when classes are not in session.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement established policies and procedures.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of computer applications and systems in a networked environment.
- Selected candidate must show dependability in regularly meeting work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Previous academic library experience.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be able to move heavy boxes of books with or without accommodations.
- Must be able to move loaded book carts with or without accommodations.
