Graduate Assistant, North Carolina Digital Heritage Center

 

The North Carolina Digital Heritage Center is seeking an organized and enthusiastic student to work on digitization and digital publishing. The North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (http://digitalnc.org) is a statewide digital library program housed in the North Carolina Collection in Wilson Library.

 

The person hired for this position will gather and assign metadata for digital objects, prepare materials for digitization, help to document project workflows, participate in outreach activities, and photograph original materials in the Digital Production Center in Wilson Library. The GA will work closely with staff and other students in the Digital Heritage Center.  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some work may also be done from home.

 

This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, experience working with spreadsheets, eagerness to learn new software and skills, and a clear interest in historic materials and digital library projects.

 

The person hired for this position will work 20 hours per week, which must be within Wilson Library’s regular weekday hours (usually 8:00 – 5:00, Monday through Friday).  The pay is $19.30 an hour. The job is available in mid-May and will last through graduation.  Applications will be reviewed beginning immediately, and on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
