Curatorial Assistant, Southern Historical Collection

Hiring Range: $16.00 – $19.00/hour

Description of Work
The Curatorial Assistant will report to the African American Collections and Outreach Archivist for the research, development, and implementation of an African American themed exhibition in Wilson Special Collections Library, scheduled for Fall 2019. Specific tasks include processing loan paperwork, writing item labels, developing tours, and facilitating any digital or programmatic elements related to the exhibition’s themes.

Education and Experience
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and one year of experience that demonstrates possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of African American history and culture, excellent research and writing skills, highly organized and detail oriented, adept at basic office computer programs (Excel, Word, etc.).

Preferred Skills and Abilities: Experience with design work, exhibit curation, or Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.).

Work Schedule
8:00 to Noon, Monday – Friday. Work schedule is flexible.
