In March 2020, staff of the University Libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill began collecting documents, artifacts, websites, and audio-visual recordings that reflect the pandemic experience at UNC-Chapel Hill and in the surrounding community.

Researchers working on a digital archive mark a major milestone by documenting over 1,000 historical monuments in all 100 North Carolina counties, painting a picture of the changing landscape of the state through physical objects.
