Appointment: Metadata librarian for Slavic languages

The University Libraries is pleased to announce the appointment of Isabelle Schenkel as metadata librarian for Slavic languages effective November 7, 2022.

In this role, Schenkel will catalog materials in Slavic languages including Russian, Czech, Polish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Slovak and Ukrainian. She will also support the discovery of library resources by creating and improving descriptive records; cataloging materials in English and other European languages as needed; and using her language and subject expertise to help resolve cataloging challenges.

Schenkel earned an M.S. in Information Science at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and an M.A. of the EUSP from the European University at St. Petersburg. She also holds a B.A. in Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies from Miami University.
