Latinx Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15. During this time, the Carolina community honors Latinx Americans’ contributions to our history, culture and accomplishments.

To mark the occasion, the University Libraries has curated collections highlighting works by Latinx creators and will be taking part in Latinx Heritage Month events across campus. Read on to learn how you can engage.

Latinx Voices and Stories on OverDrive
The University Libraries’ Latinx Voices and Stories list has been expanded in collaboration with the Carolina Latinx Center. It now contains more than 175 ebooks and audiobooks that you can enjoy anywhere using your own device.

Latinx Filmography Collection
The Media and Design Center has curated a list of nearly 40 films by Latinx creators and/or featuring Latinx characters. Check out a DVD or stream films online from the comfort of home.

Capturing Nuestra Vida – Photos and Narratives
On October 7, the UNC Story Archive and Carolina Latinx Center will host an event to capture photos and stories of Latinx students’ lives at UNC-Chapel Hill. More information to come.

Latinx Heritage Month Carnaval
Be on the lookout for a book booth, hosted by the University Libraries, at the annual Carnaval hosted by Mi Pueblo Cultura at the end of Latinx Heritage Month. At the book booth, Carnaval attendees will be able to access films, ebooks, audiobooks and print books from the Library’s collections. Details for the Carnaval, including location, are still being finalized. More information about the Carnaval will be available on the Carolina Latinx Center site soon!
