Appointments: School of Medicine Librarian and Clinical Team Lead; Library Software Applications Developer

The University Libraries is pleased to announce two recent appointments.

Sarah Wright

Sarah Wright joined the University Libraries, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, July 1, as School of Medicine librarian and clinical team lead at the Health Sciences Library

Sarah Wright is School of Medicine librarian and clinical team lead at the Health Sciences Library, effective July 1.

In these roles, Sarah will be part of the Clinical, Academic, and Research Engagement team. She will lead a team of clinical librarians who collaborate with faculty, staff and residents at the UNC Medical Center on patient care, research and education. She will also provide curriculum support for medical students at the School of Medicine.

Prior to this appointment, Sarah was clinical librarian and graduate medical education specialist at the Health Sciences Library. She also served there as interim liaison to the School of Medicine and as user services librarian. Sarah has held additional positions as a medical librarian at the Department of Pediatrics at UNC-Chapel Hill; the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia; the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.; and the National Agricultural Library.

Sarah holds a B.A. in music performance and French education from the University of Richmond and an M.L.S. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Christina Cortland

Christina Cortland joined the University Libraries, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, July 15, as library software applications developer

Christina Cortland is library software applications developer, effective July 15.

In this position, Christina will be a member of the Library and Information Technology department. She will design, implement, test and support software projects at all stages of their lifecycle; evaluate new technologies and services for use by the University community; and support the University Libraries’ online services and collections.

Before this appointment, Christina worked as a Carolina Academic Library Associate (CALA) for the software development department at the University Libraries. She previously worked as a software engineer at Indiegogo in San Francisco, California.

Christina holds an M.S.I.S. from Carolina’s School of Information and Library Science and a B.A. in cognitive science from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
