Research Assistant, Media Resources Center

The Media Resources Center (MRC) in the Undergraduate Library is hiring for a 20 hr/wk RA position for Fall 2017.  This position will provide digital literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff, and assist lab patrons with their audio and video projects, training patrons on the editing software and production hardware available at the MRC.  This position will also provide content for and help edit online tutorials and related digital literacy resources offered at the MRC.

Under the supervision of the Media Resources Librarian and working directly with Media Center Staff, this position requires 20 hours per week; with a preference for availability to work between 8am and 3pm.  Applicants must be enrolled in a Masters level program at UNC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Instruction experience
  • Proficient with Adobe Premiere, Audition and other digital tools used for creating and editing digital media
  • Proficient using current Mac OS
  • Experience working in a public service environment with a diverse University clientele
  • Motivated to learn new technologies
  • Strong computer skills and technical knowledge
  • Ability to work independently after training
  • Familiarity with multimedia, including streaming audio and video
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with audio- and video-production equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with video-editing software
  • Experience with audio-editing equipment and software
