The Approval Ordering Technician in the Monographic Services Department of Davis Library manages approval plan slip orders for print and e-books; e-book firm orders; firm orders for the Undergraduate Library; and assists with other order streams as necessary. Attention to detail is crucial, as the Technician must monitor fund allocations and levels; ensure that orders are placed with the correct accounts or subaccounts; verify that e-books are purchased on the appropriate platform; and track patron requests for titles on order.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Must be familiar with keyboarding and Microsoft applications; have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, manage time and meet deadlines; have an aptitude for detailed work; be able to work collaboratively in a team environment; demonstrate the flexibility and ability to shift priorities quickly; and have strong communication skills.
Special Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to move 40 lb. boxes
Bachelor’s degree; previous academic library and technical service experience, particularly in acquisitions or cataloging; bibliographic knowledge of at least one Western European language; experience with Millennium or another ILS.
